March is novel-writing month. The challenge is to write 50 thousand words in a month. Yes, that’s right – 50k! So far, it’s me and my friend, Orin, who are mentally ill enough to take up the challenge. Calling all MFA’ers and/or writing addicts. Who else is in?

what? i thought november was national novel writing month. did something change?
but i’m not crazy enough to take up that challenge. how about 37,500?
the challenge that i’ve decided to take up after i get back to florida is writing a complete novel – first draft – in two months. if the novel is 300 pages (75,000 words) then that’s 5 pages (1,250 words) each day.
speedy and beautiful writing to you and orin!

Yeah I know about November, but Orin brought this March thing to my attention too – it doesn’t necessarily have to be a novel, just 50K words of whatever. I know it’s crazy and don’t know if I can pull it off, but it will help push me to finish my novella/novelette in progress and maybe get more poetry done too! Ooh, good luck with your goal too – I bet you can do it! I’ll try to keep up even with teaching and grading, yikes!
